The holistic assessment cycle has informed my assessment and how I have used it for student learning.
This cycle has informed my assessment for learning because it helped me understand the benefits of continuing my assessment to allow for maximum student growth. With the cycle the students formative assessment is used as a learning tool for their success on the summative assessment.
An example of assessment for learning was in my first practicum I had the students complete a pre-assessment on their knowledge of psychology and the topic of sensation and perception. Then I would collect and read their notes after every class as a formative assessment to make sure they were understanding the content from class. I would clarify any misunderstandings on the formative assessment slips so they could learn. Then at the end of the unit they completed a summative assessment showing their application of knowledge from the unit, examples of which can be seen in the Inclusive Education section of this portfolio.
